Here are some highlights from this past week in Scotland:
- Cheryl had another doctor’s appointment on Thursday, and all is well
(the appointments here last all of 10 minutes…and they’re free). She is now less than 5 weeks away from her due date of December 14! - We had our first “birthing class” session yesterday at the local health clinic. We’ll have these every Friday until the baby is born.
- We bought a Christmas tree (6 foot) and some inexpensive decorations yesterday. The results are pleasant, if not overwhelming. Much to our chagrin, Christmas tree lights do not plug into one another as they do in the States. So, you have to buy enough lights on one strand to get the job done. Pictures will follow soon.
- As you may be able to tell from the picture of Cheryl, we rearranged our flat. The bookcase and the kitchen table switched places.
- Cheryl made some good meals this week including chicken and dressing
complete with cranberry sauce (see picture to the left). Last night she made a cheesy beef and potato casserole, alongside some good cornbread imported from Wetumpka, AL, USA. We don’t eat out a whole lot. Although, we did enjoy two cheese scones yesterday for pretty cheap after our birthing class. - Cheryl had 2 “coffee” appointments this week. One was with a French Canadian lady that Cheryl met through her midwife. The other was with the wife of another NT PhD student. Both appointments were a success.

- Brandon had his first opportunity to experience the Pizza
Hut buffet with a friend this week. It was a delight. He’s now looking forward to trying a KFC Wrapstar, which is the closest thing they have over here to Taco Bell’s Crunch Wrap Supreme. - Brandon was disappointed that the Patriots came back and beat the Colts after being dominated all game.
- We now have some new pictures of sights around Edinburgh. Check the “pictures” tab to see these exciting photos.
The KFC Wrapstar is probably the sickest looking thing we’ve ever seen, BUT – it’s good to go.
Cheryl, you look great, we’re glad to hear that you’re feeling well. Only 5 weeks left! You guys are in our prayers.

I love an update that covers everthing from important information about my future nephew to international culinary comparisons between KFC and Taco Bell. Bravo!
